11/5/2025 Clay County Board of Health voted on November 3, 2025 to make changes to Clay County Board of Health’s Environmental Fee Schedule. Proposed changes will add two new fees-temporary tattoo permit and temporary body piercing permit fees to the schedule at $75.00 each. There were no other changes made to the fee schedule. The full current schedule can be viewed on this webpage. These changes are scheduled to take effect February 1, 2026. Any comments regarding proposed changes are to be mailed to: Clay County Health Dept; Attn: Board of Health Chair; PO Box 36; Clay WV 25043. All comments must be postmarked by: December 5, 2025

The Clay County Health Department (CCHD) completed a comprehensive community health assessment in Clay County in 2023. The project involved surveying both residents and employees of the county, conducting extensive secondary data research, analyzing the data, and producing a report outlining key findings and recommendations.
The Clay County Health Department (CCHD) partnered with Center for Rural Health Development to expand our 2023 Community Health Needs Assessment for additional secondary data related to the Seven Vital Conditions of Health and Wellbeing to be included in the report.
The Clay County Health Department (CCHD) completed a comprehensive community health assessment (CHNA) in Clay County in 2023. The CHNA guided the development to the 2023 Community Health Improvement & Strategic Plan. This plan is meant to guide the service and direction of the health department for the years of 2023-2028.
